HISTORY
Yobe State is one of the thirty-six states of Nigeria situated at the North-East geopolitical zone. The state was formed out of old Borno State one of the Largest states in land areas. It was confirmed that Borno State was too large for easy administration and useful development as well as ethnic disputes among the people. This therefore caused the forming of a new State which is Yobe State. Yobe state has boundaries with Borno State (eastern axis), Jigawa and Bauchi state (west), Gombe state (south), and republic of Niger (North).
Yobe State came into existence on the 27th August 1991, by the General Ibrahim Babangida (Military Government). Its capital is Damaturu. The State is referred as “The Young shall Grow’’. The first military governor is Sani Daura Ahmed while the first civilian governor is Bukar Abba Ibrahim.
Yobe State is mainly populated by the Hausa and fulnis. However, there are five major tribes in Yobe State, which are Hausa, Fulani, Karekare, Bade and Kanuri. Yobe State, they are rich in culture and are known for traditions rising from the ancient Historical connection with the North Arabian.
Mai Mala Buni (born 11 November 1967), Nigeria) is a Nigerian politician. He is the current governor of Yobe State, Nigeria and the caretaker chairman of the All Progressives Congress. He was elected governor during the 2019 Nigeria general elections under All Progressives Congress (APC) party. Before being elected governor, he was the national secretary of the All Progressives Congress.
The yobe State government house serves as the Official home to the state governor or chief state executive of the state and their families. It is the official venue for events such as the state's executive council meetings, government conferences, swearing in of cabinet members and of course the Governor's official business. It can also be used as receptions and functions hosted by individuals; some arms of the state government also have offices at the state government house.
The Inhabitants of Yobe State are mainly into agricultural produce, Livestock (rearing animals) and fishing. These improve the labour market in this State. They are also rich in culture and heritage, there mineral which includes gypsum, Kaolen and quartz. Farming produce includes, gum, Arabic, groundnuts, beans, cotton. Yobe State is having the largest cattle market in West Africa situated at Ptiskum local Government Area.

Damaturu Central Mosque is located at Maiduguri-Potiskum Road, Damaturu, Yobe.
Damaturu Central Mosque sits on a large expanse of land in the arid north, on the edge of the city. The mosque has distinct green bell-like domes and with four towers surrounding it.
Bula Tura Oases, Nguru
This is a sand dune in a semi desert zone near Nguru. It has a scenic beauty of the daunting landscape and the oases in the desert prone areas – northern part.
Dagona Birds Sanctuary
Located in Dagona village of Bade LGA, this sanctuary is where birds of different species from Europe and other continents of the world come to roost during winter. This sanctuary has since been declared a National Park and commissioned in 1990 by Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Birnin Ngazargamu
Situated 30 kilometres east of Geidam, headquarters of Geidam LGA, Birnin Ngazargamu was founded by Mai Ali Gaji, famous Kanem Borno ruler in the 14th century. The ancient city used to be an international center for learning, trans-Saharan trade and administrative seat of the old Kanem Borno Empire.
Bade Fishing & Cultural Festival
The is a prominent feature of the state cultural heritage that comes up annually and performed by the Bades near the historical town of Gogaram in Jakusko LGA at Al-Kamaram river site. Visitors to the festival are entertained through cultural acrobatics and water displays as well as traditional techniques of fishing.
