Construction of a Double Cell Mini-Bridge

Ndudara Community is in Abakaliki Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. Before Agency’s intervention, the only accessible route to the community was through a bamboo bridge constructed by members of the community. This bridge, apart from ferrying foot-travelers across to the other side of the road could hardly support any vehicular activity. It was reported that sometime ago, a child was drawn while attempting to cross the stream, when suddenly, the bridge caved in. Apart from this, whenever there is heavy down pour, the bridge would be completely submerged, thereby increasing accessibility risk. To this end, the community unanimously agreed to seek for Agency support.

The Agency supported “Construction of a Double Cell Mini-Bridge” has been completed, commissioned, and put to use. With this in place, members of the community can easily travel using different means of transportation. Also, movement of farm produce to the market has greatly improved.

Construction of Motorized Water Boreholein Ndukwe Community

Ndukwe Community in Afikpo North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, before Agency intervention depended on streams, ponds and few Hand Pump Water boreholes across the community as their source of water for consumption and domestic use. Because of the large population of the community served by the limited number of water resources, ample time and money were spent by members of the community to fetch water for their domestic use.

The construction of a Motorized Borehole in this Community has greatly reduced the amount as well as the time spent fetching water for domestic purposes and brought about significant increase in water availability within the community

Construction of a Primary School 6-Classroom Block in Omakorie Community, Abakaliki LGA

Omakorie Community, Abakaliki LGA through a formal request made by the community. Before the construction of this classroom block, the existing Primary and Secondary schools in the community were sharing the same compound. With this form of arrangement, the environment was no longer conducive for effective teaching and learning for teachers as well as students. The consequence of this, was because of both the primary and secondary pupils observing their break and closure at different time of the day.  As soon as the bell rings for break or closure, there is usually a high level of excitement and noise among the primary school pupils, hence distracting the secondary pupils.

With the completion of the 6-Classroom Block for the Primary section at a different location within the community, it is expected that both pupils will be able to learn in a friendly environment devoid of noise and other form of distractions.

Construction of Town Hall in Umuanum Community, Ohaozara LGA, Ebonyi State

The Community like many others, is faced with so many developmental challenges such as poor road network, lack of portable water, electricity, etc. During the PRA exercise, the community identified two (2) Micro Projects namely, Town Hall and Hand Pump Borehole that requires immediate attention.

The newly constructed Town Hall is now a source of income to the Community through the rental of the facility for meeting and other social activities.

Rehabilitation of Bridge in Akpoha Community, Afikpo North LGA, Ebonyi State

The bailey bridge that crosses Ebonyi River at Akpoha Community was constructed by the Nigerian Army Engineering Corps after the existing bridge was destroyed during the Nigerian civil war. The reconstruction of this bridge brought a sigh of relieve to members of the community as it served as the most effective means of conveying their farm produce, which was at the other side of the river. Over the years, the wooden basement started wearing out from different sections of the bridge because of several factors such as weather, environmental and human activities. With time, it became completely impossible for vehicles, motorcycles and even bicycles to transport farm produce to the community.

On several occasions, the community had tried to rehabilitate the bridge, but could not muster enough financial muscle to carry out the project, until the Agency intervened. Presently, Akpoha Community, through the Community Project Management Committee, CPMC have received all the tranche disbursement of the approved total Micro-project cost for completion of micro-project.
